The Role of Specialist Physician

Region Jönköping is the provider of insurance medical activity capacity assessments (AFU) commissioned by the Swedish Social Insurance Agency (Försäkringskassan). The work as a specialist physician involves investigating and assessing to what extent illness in the insured leads to functional impairments and limits activity capacity. The aim is to provide a holistic picture that also highlights the insured person's remaining capacity for activity, as well as to assess the medical prognosis based on ongoing and completed treatment and rehabilitation.

The assessments are fundamentally medical examinations, but if necessary, the assessment can be expanded to include psychologists, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists. The physician is then responsible for the final documentation of the assessment. A central part of the work is to compile results and formulate an opinion that is formal, clear, and easy to understand. Collaboration is a natural part of daily life, with joint team meetings and ongoing communication within the team.

The work requires training in activity capacity assessment through the Swedish Social Insurance Agency. If you have not completed this training, we offer it in connection with the employment.

We offer you a flexible position during daytime on weekdays where the degree of service and location can be discussed. You also have the opportunity to influence your schedule. The assessments take place physically on-site in Nässjö or Jönköping. Some documentation can be done remotely by agreement. The position is a permanent employment with a start date to be agreed upon.

The Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic is a county clinic that has been accredited according to CARF since 2006. We strive constantly to be at the forefront, maintain high quality, and actively improve operations. In Jönköping, rehabilitation is provided for both patients admitted for 24-hour care and for patients who come during the day. In Nässjö and Värnamo, there is day rehabilitation, and in Nässjö and Jönköping, there is insurance medical activity. The team in insurance medicine consists of psychologists, physicians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and healthcare administrators.

Your Profile

We are looking for you who are a licensed physician and have specialist competence in an applicable area, such as neurology, general medicine, psychiatry, or orthopedics. Previous experience of teamwork is viewed positively. You have an interest and commitment to working with in-depth insurance medical activity capacity assessments. If you have undergone training in or have experience of work capacity assessments, this is meritorious. You have good knowledge of the Swedish language and express yourself well in both speech and writing.
